Research Paper

I learned a lot making my research paper. One of the most interesting things I learned as that the authorities, such as the police, took bribes in order for alcohol to be illegally distributed. This is why alcohol was so easily moved around. They bribe officials, make more money, and bribe them again. I also learned that Al Capone may have been a crime loving mafia lord, but he wasn't such a bad guy at some times. He used a lot of his money to open up soup kitchens for the needy and donated clothing to families who needed it.

Romantic Poems

I find the oval portrait to be an interesting poem. Since the painter is so absorbed in his painting and is working so hard on it, it is literally stealing the life from his wife and putting it into the painting. He pays no attention to his wife and uses all of his time painting his wife. In the end his wife dies because he has used up all of her life to make his painting.

Connecting to nature

I feel as if I connect to birds. Birds are always on the move and never seem to stop to rest. I can relate because I have a very busy schedule and it is sometimes difficult to have a lot of time to rest. Birds still seem happy though, and I can relate to that because once I accomplish a large amount of work, I feel good that its all finally done.

Pit and Pendulum ending

"As I was being pushed towards the pit I managed to keep my fingers on the ledge, keeping myself from falling to my death. I then looked up to see dripping water and before I could react, a waterfall fell from the ceiling pushing me into the pit. I was instantly knocked unconscious. I then awoke to see a boy staring at me. He introduced himself as Christian Wallace. He told me that there was a way out, but many problems lie ahead, such as dragons and angry cats. We ran through dark tunnels slaying kittens and dragons following a dim light. This dim light was my only hope. After many hours of running, walking, and jogging, we found the end of the tunnel. It was a small office with a pale man sitting at a desk. Christian snapped into action and dropped him with a single kick to the jaw. We then climbed a ladder, out of a sewage drain, and into the street. I felt as if it was going to be even a bigger journey finding my way home..."

Crucible Reflection

Looking over the Crucible, I am going to reflect on the characters. The characters are really only thinking about themselves. They're not only selfish but they are naive. They believe anything that is told to them by any certain person. Abigail could sit there and tell them the world was ending because Goody Proctor made it end, and Danforth would most likely believe it. The only thing they care about is keeping their their lives. Because no one wanted to die, they all ended up lying and "confessing" to save themselves. In my opinion, Abigail would be the most annoying person in the world.

Arthur Miller Biography

Sinners in the hands of an angry god sermon.

1. There is no lack of "power" in God to throw wicked men into hell at any moment. Men's hands cannot be strong when God rises up: the strongest have no power to resist Him, nor can anyone save them from His hands. He is not only able to throw wicked men into hell, but He can do it most easily. Sometimes an earthly prince meets with a great deal of difficulty trying to subdue a rebel, who has found ways to fortify himself, and has made himself strong by the mere numbers of his followers. But it is not so with God. There is no fortress that is any defense from the power of God. Though hand join in hand, and vast multitudes of God's enemies combine and associate themselves, they are easily broken into pieces. They are like great heaps of light chaff [worthless matter;rubbish] before the whirlwind; or large quantities of dry hay before devouring flames. We find it easy to step on and crush a worm that we see crawling on the earth; likewise it is easy for us to cut a slender thread that anything hangs by: therefore it easy for God, when He pleases, to throw His enemies down into hell. What are we, that we should think that we can stand before Him, at whose rebuke the earth trembles, and before whom the mountains collapse?

A person who played a large part: Squanto

Squanto became famous and well known for helping  the pilgrims during their voyage. Squanto played a huge part in their survival. First, he showed the pilgrims how to plant crops so they could provide food for themselves. He taught the women how to prepare corn in several ways and how to befriend other indians. He even stayed with the pilgrims for a while to help them get started.

Jamestown Photo

This is a picture of the Jamestown settlement. This picture shows it just as it was described. A triangular area protected by tall wooden posts to keep out the enemies. The only difference i see is that they do not have cannons in every corner in case of an assault. I think this picture most accurately displays Jamestown.

Native American Culture

While we read about the Native Americans in our book, I found the beliefs of each tribes origin to be the most interesting. Out of all of the origin stories, I thought the skyworld story was the most interesting because it must have taken a lot of time to think how all of the world was created. It seems extremely farfetched to me that a lady would fall through the ground, put dirt on a turtle's back and grow the Earth. While reading these stories I did realize that they incorporate their culture in with their beliefs. Its pretty cool to see all of the different beliefs of the Native Americans.
